Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is NRC?

  • The Noise Reduction Coefficient (commonly abbreviated NRC) is a scalar representation of the amount of sound energy absorbed upon striking a particular surface. An NRC of 0 indicates perfect reflection; an NRC of 1 indicates perfect absorption.

In particular, it is the average of four sound absorption coefficients of the particular surface at frequencies of 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz. These frequencies encompass the fundamental frequencies and first few overtones of typical human speech, and, therefore, the NRC provides a decent and simple quantification of how well the particular surface will absorb the human voice. A more broad frequency range should be considered for applications such as music or controlling mechanical noise.

  • What are CAC ratings?

  • Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC) ratings are used to determine the sound transmission loss through an acoustical or dropped ceiling. A CAC rating is determined by ASTM test method E 1414 "Standard Test Method for Airborne Sound Attenuation between Rooms Sharing a Common Ceiling Plenum" and provides a value that is equivalent to an STC value.

  • How do me estimating that how Many Cartons I’ll Need?

  • It’s very simple three step process

    1. Measure the length and width of your room. Round up to the next whole number of feet.

    2. Multiply the length of the room in feet by the width of the room in feet and divide by the number of square feet of ceiling in each carton.

    3. Round your answer to the next whole number to determine how many cartons you’ll need.

  • What is Techno Acoustic™ Mineral ceilings made of?

  • Techno Acoustic™ Mineral board ceilings are made of following ingredients - mineral fibre, perlite, starch, steel slag, glass wool, clay, recycled paper etc.

  • Where can Techno Acoustic™ ceilings be used?

  • For interiors, you can choose from Techno Acoustic ™ Ceilings which include mineral ceiling tiles, PVC laminated gypsum ceiling tiles, Aluminium ceiling tiles and GI ceiling tiles. Our, ceiling products should be stored in clean and water free areas.

  • How much will a new ceiling cost?

  • Not as much as you may think. Costs vary according to product design and performance features. We can provide ceiling system for various budget which starts from Rupees 40 per square feet.

  • Can I paint my Techno ceiling tile or suspended ceiling?

  • All Techno Acoustic™ ceiling tiles and panels can be painted with latex paints. However repainting must be done on both sides of the panels. We cannot guarantee that the original specified surface burning characteristics, fire resistance ratings, acoustical performance, dimensional stability/sag or light reflectance after repainting.

  • How many fluorescent lighting fixtures will I need?

  • Rule of thumb: Use two four-foot fluorescent tubes for every 75 square feet of suspended ceiling. Also, many Techno Acoustic™ ceilings provide good light reflectance which saves energy.
